Recover emails from windows live mail

    Hello everybody,

I used windows live mail for years however recently I had a problem with my HDD and windows 10 was so bad that it wouldn't start (I tested 10 different ways) So I decided to take advantage and buy an SSD and make a new clean install. Now I have both hard drives and I can get through all the files on the old HDD.

I also decided to switch to outlook, but I would like to have access to my old e-mails from windows live mail. As windows live mail does not work how can I recover emails and move them to outlook?

Thank you and excuse my English.

Hi empresa87. Welcome to TenForums @empresa87

Think you are going to have to do a two step process. One install Windows Live mail on your new installation and the export the email. Windows Live is stilling "working" but it is not supported and it recommended that you find an alternate, as you have, before it truly stops working.

    You can find software here.

Of course you will have to find mail folder on old HDD. Lots of articles on location on web.

Then the exporting from Live and importing to outlook. This is an old article but should work. Make plenty of backups as you progress should you have to back up a step or two.

Depends on what you have done before and how your Mail Accounts were setup in WLM.

In the first place open each Mail Account with the Web Interface.
Check whether all Emails are present.

If they are, then all you have to do is use IMAP with any Email Client like Outlook or the Win 10 Mail App.
Those will just sync with the Accounts setup with IMAP.

Problems will only arise if you made some folders in WLM that were not synced with a Mail server.
In that case you can use convoluted methods described in the article referenced in post #2.

WLM went out of support around 4 years ago in 2016, you were notified. That was the time to prepare. I put all old emails in to an account which was later going to be synced, making it no effort later on.

    Hi there
I had a slightly different problem. My ISP (Vodafone) said they were going to stop being a mail provider and I needed to make other arrangements. I was running WLM (pop3) at the time.
I joined up with Gmail (web) and advised my contacts of my new address.
To be able to go back to my previous WLM Vodafone emails I went to ...
C:Users/yourname/AppData/Local/Microsoft/ and saved the Windows Live Mail folder in there.
That contained all my accounts/messages etc.
    I then went to ... https://www.softpedia.com/get/Intern...L-Viewer.shtml
and downloaded their portable eml viewer.
Create a folder .. Portable EML Viewer and extract the downloaded files into it.
When you want to view an old WLM email just use the viewer to read it.

Hello and thanks for all the answers.
Eu segui o processo do Caledon Ken

I followed the process of Caledon Ken. However after I copied the folders and opened the WLM, I was unable to export the emails I had an error message. After several attempts I decided to use an EML to PST concertor and do the work manually. Probela solved.
