Change my default email client in Windows Mail&Cal. App for Snip and S

    Hi:
I am currently using Windows 10 Home 10.0.1863 Build 18363.

I am trying to set Thunderbird as my default email client in MS Stitch and Sketch.
When I go down the list of choices, when I click on the Share tab, Thunderbird is not shown as a choice

I have looked at the default associations, etc in the Control panel or going into All SETTINGS in Windows10. No choice to set the email program for MS Stitch and Sketch.

Someone, on this forum, a few years back helped me with the same problem with Snipping Tool having no choice for email had me do a Registry edit change and it works perfectly.

I am an amateur at using Regedit and not been able to find the right registry setting to make MS Stitch and Sketch do the same thing.

    Help, as always is appreciated.

Set Thunderbird as your default email application in
    Settings,
    Apps,
    Default apps,
    EMail.

Sometimes you need to set the default program on the basis of the .exe file for that program. Do the option you see to set a default have a selection like "More" or "Other Options" or similar. If so, you then need to navigate to where the TBird .exe file is installed on your computer and select that.

I have tried all the settings above. None offer a choice for Thunderbird.
On the Snip and &S app, here is a snapshot of what the app offers-Windows Mail and Samsung printer. No "More"

    Y,

Another user had to edit the Registry to make Thunderbird the default mail app. See post 4 [wiganken] of Windows is ignoring Thunderbird as Default Email app - TenForums

There was a suggestion in another thread that setting / not setting an option within Thunderbird itself might have been complicatng the issue -

I checked my default email program, have it always check if thunderbird is my default mail program and I

checked the two registry settings that you linked me to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\mail > (Default) value = Mozilla Thunderbird
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail > (Default) Value = Mozilla Thunderbird

the Current _USER one was already set to Mozilla Thunderbird
the Local_Machine one was not set to anything, so I added it.

I went out of regedit and re-booted my computer and still could not access Thunderbird in the Mail and Calendar App
MS has it locked up tight?

I will keep trying. Thanks again for your help.

Check if it is behaving as the default even though the Windows setting does not show it.

As a test, click on this

I will keep searching. I don't like third-party software on my computer except for when I really have to

    Terry,

Can you clarify what you will "keep searching" for?

Thunderbird should now open whenever you need an email application, such as when emailing from MS Stitch and Sketch.

    Sorry Denis,

I wasn't clear on that. Your mailto link opens Thunderbird
The link "email link" in my Firefox browser has always worked since I regedited it a few years back, meaning it defaults to Thunderbird emailer.

To be clear, using Thunderbird still doesn't work in MS Snip + Sketch. Windows Mail is my only choice shown, there are no other mail to choices on my screen in MS Snip + Sketch.

I will continue to try to solve this problem

    Thanks again,
    Terry
