Multiple edgeupdates and edgeupdatems event 0 posting in Event Viewer.

    Hello,

Since I have installed the new MS Edge Chromium on my HP Omen Obelisk w/ Win10 64bit Version 1909 I have noticed that my Windows Logs/Applications in Event Viewer is getting multiple Information posts of Event 0 about edgeupdate and edgeupdatem. I get them maybe every 15 to 30 to 45 minutes and it is beginning to be aggravating to see all that mess. Does anyone know why this is happening and is there a way to stop this from happening? Should I just leave them alone and wait for an update to fix this? I have run SFC and DISM and uninstalled and installed again and all is normal. I see both of them in my services and was wondering if I should stop them altogether or should I edit these in task manager as they have the same settings as gupdate and that has very few entries in my event viewer. Edge is working as it should be but I have starting thinking about uninstalling it all together if I do not need it as I use Firefox as my default and Chrome as my secondary anyway. Thank you for any help or insights as to resolve this.

    Don

I see the same thing and Edge is working fine and so is the updates. I think when ever it runs this is telling you that the service has stopped when it is done. I just ignore it. The event view is a tool for MS and not meant for the consumer.

You should not be looking in the Event Viewer unless you have a good reason.

It is just some information event. Edgium is still in development.

Chrome has had frequent updates recently, so in mine there a lot of similar Chrome information events on mine.

I am not installing Edgium until it is offered via Windows 10 updates.

Excuse me but who are you to tell me that I should not be looking in my own event viewer in my own computer like I do not know what I am looking at. I happen to be a retired I.T. Manager at a major university and teaching hospital. I do not appreciate you talking down to me like I am a child. I will look in my event viewer anytime I please.

Now as far as you getting a lot of Chrome information events that sounds like your problem and like you told me you should not be looking in the event viewer unless you have good reason. BTW I am not having a problem with "gupdate" flooding my Application Event Viewer so you may want to look as to why. My Chrome stays up to date.

If Edge Chromium is still in development then why is MS offering it to be downloaded on their site and why is MS sending out messages that it is available for download. It has been available to users since it's launch in January so where have you been.BTW you may be waiting a while for Edge Chromium in MS updates and since you do not even have Edge Chromium installed on your machine why did you even bother to reply to my thread.

Now go try bullying another user. It will not work with me.

I see the same events but not as frequently as you are.

    Check out this policy: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dep...kperiodminutes

Looks like you could use a group policy to disable autoupdate check or change the frequency.
