Microsoft Edge Browser "This app can't open"

    Hi,

When I try to open Microsoft Edge browser I get an error message saying "This app can't open A problem with windows is preventing Microsoft Edge from opening. Refreshing your PC might help fix it". Also if I try to open a .HTML file I get the same error but when I close Microsoft Edge browser after opening a .HTML file I get another error saying "An error in a system binary was detected. Try refreshing the PC to fix the problem".

I have done sfc/scannow in the Command Prompt and it says that there are corrupt files. When I look at the CBS.log file it mentions MicrosoftEdge. Here is the CBS.log file

I have tried using the command below, using the Install.esd file located in the $Windows.~BT folder to try and repair the MicrosoftEdge file but it says that the source file cannot be found.

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Install.esd:1 /limitaccess

I know you can get a good copy of files from another PC and use that to repair the corrupt ones but I don't have another PC running windows 10. Someone would need to send me the MicrosoftEdge files so I can try using them to repair the corrupt ones, would this work?

I have tried everything, apart from using the "Reset this PC" option. I don't really want to reset my laptop so if anyone knows how to fix this without resetting then, thanks.

    Cheers,
    James

Windows Update just installed a bunch of updates and one of them was a cumulative update and updated the MicrosoftEdge files and now Microsoft Edge browser works.
