Hi again, The snips above are from the search result page. If you type in the address bar, and then press enter what do you have on the search result page.

I think you might be confused or maybe I am not clear on what your understanding of my problem is? When I type into the TOP (a url, like www.xxxxx.com) I get previous addresses I went to. The 'drop-down' has the url I typed among a list of 'saved/stored' url's I went to (even days before) but IF I hit enter the highlighted url is not the one I typed into the space. I just want to type a url into that TOP 'space', hit enter, and let the EDGE browser go to the url I typed. Any 'settings' for the browser does not have the columns you 'snapped' in your reply. Bing is a search engine, Edge is the browser. I am trying to delete saved browser data so it isn't conjured up in a url request I type in. Does anyone else understand my problem? I am going to try to snap a picture of what is happening, let me see if I can get it to add into this reply. Understand, I typed "ebay.com" and this picture is what popped into my address 'pull-down". Only the top address isn't where I want to go! THIS happens no matter what address I want to go to (but not the same list, different url's are in the 'drop-down").

BTW, I did try to have BING as my default search engine, it did not help in solving my problem in any way.

    Still Banging!

I'm not quite sure why this has become so complicated .... ??

When I want to clear any information from Edge Chromium (which i do successfully frequently), go to Settings (... in top RH corner) > Privacy and Services > Clear Browsing Data > Choose what to clear > Time range (pull down) > All time > select what to clear > Clear Now

Sometimes when i go back in, when I type in a url, suggestions/predictive entries are offered. These are not history, don't get them confused. You can turn this off (ask me).

A couple of "riders" to the above ... I do not use B**g as my search engine. I am not logged on with a Microsoft account. Maybe both/either of these could be remembering browsing history outside of the Edge Chromium cache (?)

EDIT : And admittedly, on occasions I might resort to a 3rd party cache clearer like ccleaner and/or Wise Disk Cleaner

OK, try following the OP, then the reply, then the reply to the reply, and so on. It is all in the post if you don't hurry, and contemplate each step as it progressed. You see, I have this problem that just will not go away. Understanding the problem has been explained a number of times already in a number of ways. All your points have already been answered except the last (edit). I and everyone else should not have to have a third party software solution to be able to use a browser without popping up your previously visited webpages within a url, which has to be navigated for its selection. I suggest YES ("Maybe both/either of these could be remembering browsing history outside of the Edge Chromium cache"), because I do not use Edge Chromium AND it is saving/bringing up history of the webpage as part of the access to the webpage typed in the address bar. You see?

Hi, I am sorry I am unable to help, and I am fully aware that Bing is a search engine, and Edge is a browser.

:) Thank you for trying, I do appreciate help to solve this head banging MS induced imbedded Edge problem! :)

Members, please review each thread in the post, and follow the flow of the problem originally posted. Maybe I am not the best in describing what the problem is (in fact that might be the secondary problem in this issue), but the cumulation of replies should place some focus on exactly what is happening and the desired result. Repeating things that have already been tried, and steps to take involving software (Edge Chromium) not installed (including suggestions involving third party software that may not address the issue at all), doesn't help solve my particular problem identified. I didn't commit to switching over to Edge since Win 10 came out but I can't believe they (MS) haven't had this issue happen en-mass. :)

Forgot I had the old Edge in the sandbox Just a few suggestions - run New InPrivate Window and try these settings :

How to remove history in address bar in Edge?-screenshot_1.png

Obvious disadvantage is you won't have any history saved to fall back on.

I have (tried) but it's been made unnecessarily complicated by irrelevant side issues

Your original post asked for solutions on how to remove browsing history from Edge Chromium. Can't be much more simpler, and easier than my reply.

Here's a thought ... Microsoft/Windows is not always perfect and occasionally may need help in resolving an issue. That's what 3rd party software is for, and why it's common and popular with the more discerning and experienced user.

If you don't want to use it, ignore the suggestion. However, there may be plenty of other users who are appreciative of the suggestion that there is another world out there, outside the total blinkered solitude of some Microsoft devotees.

See what ? A simple problem with simple solution(s) that has been unnecessarily complicated beyond all comprehension.

Anyway, here's me bus, I'm done here.

Doesn`t Disk Cleanup clear your history files ?

    You could use CCleaner.

Stop using Edge, use Google Chrome
It's not really to do with history per-say it's to do with trying to stop predictive url's list showing when typing an url in the address bar of (old) Edge. To do the same in Chrome you would need to follow the same settings as in Edge.

Ya Chrome does the same thing, you gotta go in and tick the settings the way you want them.

I use Chrome, I don`t like Edge or IE

Chrome does the same thing when typing out a website, so I gotta figure out which setting to tic or untick, without harming auto fill, I like that feature.

Ya I can`t figure out how to fix Chrome so it stops doing it. ( type in a Y in the address box and a bunch of suggestions show up) how do we stop that ?

And Disk Cleanup never actually clears Temporary internet files or temporary files.

Every time you run Disk Cleanup, there they are, still there.
