    Shortcuts to websites open Google

    Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.657)

I must have done something wrong.

There are several shortcuts on the desktop to various websites, including this one. But most of them now open Google.

What do I have to do to fix this?

Check your Windows 10 default web browser ...
Start menu > Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Web Browser
Click for popup list of alternatives

Click it and you'll see what is meant by "alternatives."

Note the subsequent comments from @Samuria for possible solutions. But try my suggestion first and see what happens.

Bit confused here now. If (Google) Chrome is set as your default browser, then that's what desktop web shortcuts should open with.

"Now open ..." - what happened previously ?

EDIT: Now (re)thinking, do you mean the shortcuts now open Chrome at the Google search page ?

Yes, that's correct. For example, I have desktop shortcuts to Yahoo Mail, My eBay summary, this website, my PayPal account, all of which open the Chrome browser default page.

However, there are other shortcuts which work correctly. My website, link to my doctor's surgery.

I am getting tired of this. I'm frequently having to change passwords on gmail and Yahoo mail !

The surest, if not the simplest, way to overcome this is to re-install the OS.

If it isn't, please tell me why.
