Windows 10 Keeps Changing Comparability for Chrome and Edge
Hello – on my Dell e7440 notebook, running Win 10 I recently (maybe was just after a fairly recent Windows update?) was unable to get Chrome (latest edition) working – it would load OK but was unable to connect to the Internet – got the “Aw Shucks” error...
Other apps like Outlook and Firefox were able to properly connect to the Internet.
While trouble shooting this I thought I might as well update MS Explorer to the new (Chromium based) Edge – and while finalizing that update, lo and behold Edge gave me the same symptoms.
After fussing around a bit I discovered I could get Chrome and Edge working and connecting to the Internet only by running both programs in Win8 compatibility.
So first question is – why with me running the latest updated version of Win 10 and for two browsers purpose built for Win10 do I have to run them in Win8 compatibility?
And assuming for some strange and wondrous reasons I have to continue to run them in compatibility mode – here’s my second problem.
When I shut down and restart my notebook and then try to use Chrome or Edge, once again the programs start but I’m unable to connect them to the Internet – and again I need to go into the Properties and click on Win8 compatibility mode (hitting Apply and OK) , then restart the browsers and now they work properly – at least until I shut down and restart the PC.
Hope someone can provide some good advice...
