Question about the new Chromium based Edge Browser

Hi. I was was wondering if anyone has an opinion on weather it's ok at this time to manually download and install the new Edge Browser or wait until Windows Update pushes the update. I do like the Edge Browser although I use Firefox as my default browser. I have a HP Desktop and a HP Laptop computer both with Windows 10 1909. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Mcd, I installed Edge Chromium twice (about 45 days ago), both times the installation was fluent and flawless. If you are like me, and hate waiting or spending time wondering or pondering, I suggest you go ahead and upgrade your version of Edge (to get it over with). I am a 100% of the time Firefox user but replacing the old version of Edge with the new one is a big win for me.

You can get the installer from this link

I too installed the new Edge at least a month ago and have had no problems whatsoever. My default browser also is Firefox and I totally dislike Chrome so I have never had it but I liked the "old" Edge and like the new one also.

I too installed the new Edge when the file was first released here in this forum. I Do like this new Edge, did not like the original Edge, Had Chrome set as my Default with IE still needed every now and then for some websites.
My experience So far is I haven't needed IE for anything since I have made Edge my default, I still have chrome installed but looks like I'll be uninstalling that soon. I don't believe there is anyway of uninstalling IE but I guess it will go away with an update at some point.

I would just wait until you are offered it.
Web Browsers take a long time to develop, Chrome took many years until it was reasonable, Edge about 6 years.

I have to use IE 11 for printing in most cases, as the facilities in Edge and Chrome are just not good enough.

If you want to be a Beta tester for Edgium go ahead. More sailors to the helm the better for when I install it...

I just got it on one Notebook while watching Jeopardy on the boob-tube, looks like I will like it better than the old one.

I've been using the release version for some time...it works very well at this point so i would not hesitate to install it now rather than waiting and it can only get even better as they make improvements...

I would suggest making a system image before installing new Edge, as once installed there is no going back apparently. having said that I've been using it for some time without any noticeable issues other than an extension I use was marked as incompatible but going to the MS store and re getting it worked fine, go figure.

Apparently the new Edge Chromium browser isn't the best for security! it looks like the new Edge (Leith says the tested version is 80.0.361.48, which is definitely Chredge) not only tracks what you’re doing, it flags all of your actions with a hardware-unique identifier.
