Win-10 Edge closes immediately after opening

My upgrade from Win-7 to Win-10 seemed to go faultlessly, everything including Edge worked correctly. After a couple of hours though, Edge no longer will open properly, The basic blue screen w/logo comes up for 5 seconds or so and immediately closes. Shortly thereafter the Start button also stopped opening, although by right-clicking I could get the basic function list so could still stumble along.
The Start button problem was fixed by going back to my first Restore point (created by an automatic upgrade), but the Edge problem persists in spite of trying various fixes from posts dating back to the beta-test period. Obviously this is a problem that has existed from the early beta issues ... and it ain't fixed yet!! Any suggestions appreciated, because I note that Win-10 depends heavily on Web access via Edge.

    Random thoughts:

    - Does the Event Viewer list an error code that can be researched ?
    - Do you have add-ons/apps/3rd browser/AV that could interfere ? If so, disable and see result.
    - Display driver up-to-date ?
    - Run sfc/scannow "just for grins" to see if any difference.

Didn't check Event Viewer & have since reverted back to Win-7 so too late now.
I did run /scannow with no problems found. There were no add-ons installed and no other browsers accessed before the problem(s) started.
Display is a Radeon 4600 and does have the latest drivers, but I understand there were some AMD-related problems uncovered during beta test.
In any case I'm back to Win-7 and will just let Windows 10 mature a little before diving back in. Thanks for the response!

    Hi,
Same issue here. Logged a fault with MS and they logged in and created a new local account which worked ok. Told me to sync it to my existing account which was an MS account which i believe is impossible so have deleted the new account and gone back to the original problem. Obviously account related but no further now. Possibly need to create a new ms account first. Any ideas?

    Edge now working.

Logged in to MS help page last night and went on the chat line where i explained the fault with Edge to the technician.
I explained i had done various scans for file corruption but problem still remained.
I also told them that with a new user account there were no problems with Edge.
The technician then logged in to my pc and moved the files from my original user profile( docs and settings) to the new one.
She then deleted the original user and the new one then became my main log in. Same email address and user name and all then worked ok. This operation in total took about 2 hours so credit to MS providing this service for free.
She left the original account settings on the desktop so i could delete them later when i was happy all ok.
Edge now fine. Had a few minor issues with MS Outlook but soon resolved and dropbox.
Tested again this morning and all ok but am reluctant to make any changes to Edge settings at the moment as worried it may go wrong again.
Best solution though is to call MS using chat. Answered within 2 minutes. Prior to that create a new user account in settings and log on with that account to confirm Edge ok.
Explain the issue to MS telling that it only happens with your original account and is ok on the new one, assuming that is the case.
    Best of luck.

    Glad the problem is corrected.

So in summary, the issue was because of more than one account ?

No initially I had only one account on the laptop which had some how got corrupted or damaged in relation to Edge.
All MS did was create a new account from settings /accounts/other users. Create a new account . Copy all data from c:/users/my old account to the new account.
They then deleted my original account by logging on as the new user with admin rights.
Then they made this account my main and only log in and synchronised it with my ms account.
Took quite a while as it copies all photos etc .
Obviously I would rather have found the problem with my original account but this ends nights of frustrating searching for a solution.
Another way would be to down grade to 8.1 and then try the upgrade to W10 again hoping it goes ok next time.
    Best of luck.

Thanks for the explanation. Seems strange the effect an account that is corrupted can have.
