So you are correct. This way doesn't work anymore. I haven't found a way now.

Maybe Microsoft changed something because it works in the latest stable Chrome. I have my bookmarks bar filled with individual sites, and then many folders in "Other bookmarks", and "Other bookmarks" shows all the way to the right in the bookmark bar. I created a new folder called "Favorites" on the bookmark bar, and moved all my folders from "Other bookmarks" to "Favorites", and after the last one was moved, "Other bookmarks" disappeared from the bookmark bar.

It does work in Edge. I don't use it, but I added some bookmarks to test. It does the same thing. With no items in "Other bookmarks", it disappears from the bookmark bar.

Replacing one folder for another is not exactly an amazing solution. I don't want folders in the Bookmarks toolbar. Isn't there a way to remove every folder?

You don't have to replace a folder with another. Look at my post above yours. Just remove all items from any folder (including Other bookmarks), and you'll be left with only your individual ones.

There are no options to delete the other favorites folder. Microsoft should address that.

This isn't specifically a Microsoft thing. It's inherited from how the Chromium engine that new Edge is based on works. The Google Chrome browser works the same way.

As much as I hate it, I'm not sure the Chromium base engine allows modifying how Favorites/bookmarks are handled.

I like Microsoft Edge a lot, but to consider the annoyance of being forced to stick to the other favorites folder which is impossible to delete is very annoying for some users. I wish there was a possibility or workaround to delete the other favourites folder in Microsoft Edge.

Maybe that's something core in Chromium? I believe this is a common feature in all Chromium based browsers. I reported this when Edge was still in Beta, together with other issues that were fixed a long time ago, so I believe there might be some other reason for this to persist.

    One last pitch.

I've never experienced any grief with managing favorites or associated folders. No grief, period.

Vivaldi is a Chrome based browser that has endless features that you can customize to your liking, including the management of bookmarks or favorites.

Eh, not an issue for me. Edge is the only Chromium browser I tolerate.
I went back to Firefox (also because Firefox for Android has uBlock Origin and Darkreader), I can customize it to my heart's content.

Vivaldi does all that as well as supporting an Android browser that has most of those features and a favorites & tab sync to your desktop PC.
