I've been dealing with this problem for a few months and I can't get it working.
It first occurred after I updated to 1909 last fall. Wiping all of the mail settings and redoing everything managed to fix it.
The problem came back a few months later (I think after a cumulative update). I followed the same steps I used before and I couldn't get it to work this time. I decided to try and fix it again today and stumbled across this post. I followed the instructions posted by "Access Denied", but those didn't resolve the problem either.
The weird thing is that it's only my two Gmail accounts that the notifications don't appear. My Hotmail account gets notifications just fine in Windows Mail.
I don't suppose anyone else has run into this problem and might have a different fix?
