Font sizes of received and composed messages are ok.
But font size in sent messages is much smaller than when I composed that message. I prefer to have the size larger.
I did not find a setting for that.

And how does the received mail appear if you view it in e.g. a browser?

Thanks, I meant use a web browser to log in to your email account and view the message there, how does the font then appear? I.e. web mail.
That may separate the font as sent from Thunderbird from it receiving and rendering the message.

thunderbird window ??? Open your mail directly in browser; eg if you have Yahoo or MSN mail, open on Yahoo or MSN page and see what it looks like. I use Thunderbird and when I look at my Sent box on Outlook.live.com, font size seems to be the same to me.
I did some testing. In Tools, Options, Composition, HTML Size you may select among others Medium or Large.
When Medium selected:
Composing a message yields a medium, well readable font size.
After sending the mail and receiving on a different account, fonts were much smaller, and therefore more difficult to read. Same small font size in the mail in the sent mail box.
When large selected:
Composing a message yields (of course) a somewhat larger size.
But now, sending the mail and receiving on a different account, fonts were similar in size and well readable..
So problem is solved when setting font size large. Different behaviour with font size medium is puzzling.
