    Edge Chromium

    Greetings,

I am using the Edge Dev edition. I notice that the Stable edition is available. Two questions:

-is there any advantage to moving to Stable?

-if so, do I have to move my data, settings and extensions manually from Dev to Stable?

    Thanks,

    Graham

    Hey oscer,

Thanks for the link. That cleared most of it up. Think I'll stay with the Dev build. When the stable version comes in from Windows Update, I'll accept it and perhaps migrate everything from Dev.

I'm running both for now since Canary is ahead of Stable, just to make sure Win10 Edge runs as intended. IF you sync with a MS account, settings and faves, etc allow you to switch back and forth flawlessly. EG; new bookmarks and privacy settings change immediately.

Thanks mrgeek. So if I install the stable Edge, I understand that it will replace the old Edge. That's good. I have a question about sync.

If I install stable and activate sync in both stable and dev; how do I ensure that the settings and favs will migrate from dev to stable and not the other way around?

    Thanks,
    Graham

It's a two-way sync from active Edge to inactive. If I change a setting in Canary, it changes next time I open Edge. If I change in regular Edge, it will change in Canary, next time I open it. Caution- be sure that what you want synced is properly set in Settings/Profiles/Sync.
Easy quick test- add a new favorite to open Edge, then open other & you'll find it there too. If you are experimenting with something, turn off sync in active browser until you're sure that's what you want universally. Good Luck
