Is GMAIL Suddenly Hosed or is it Just Me

Latest version. Acting differently then it did this morning. No boxes on the left hand side to tick and delete messages.

When I do click on where the black box used to be the message now turns blue and can then be deleted

And I can no longer left click the upper right hand corner where the first letter of my user name appears (picture profile) to get a drop down menu to logout. My only option is click the 3 vertical dots button and exit without logging out. Is it me or what fresh hell is this? TIA.

It's something within your browser. I have the boxes, and everything is working as it always did.

Thanks for the quick response. Crap. I haven't made any changes or added any extensions and as I mentioned it looked fine this morning. This is the version I am running Version 79.0.3945.117 (Official Build) (64-bit). Would you mind checking yours? I am able to repeat the problem using Firefox. TIA.

Did you try clearing cache/cookies? It may be as simple as one or both being the cause.

Yes. Just tried IE as well and Cent browser all with the same results. They all now mimic the same results using GMAIL with Chrome browser. Yikes!

I don't know what to tell you then. Sorry. Mine works the same in both Chrome and Firefox (the only two browsers I use). Maybe a reboot of the PC?

Well, I went to try a public computer (library) while I left my computer at home to do a full system scan and the library has the same Chrome up to date version as me and all is well on this public computer so the problem definitely lies at home ( :

I'll see of if the scan picks up anything but I would not bet on it. I wonder what the heck could be causing all these email anomalies across different browsers.

I started to run the scan before trying a reboot. I'll try the reboot after the scan finishes but by the looks of the progress when I left that might not be for a while.

Upon returning home with the scan complete (nothing malicious was found) I just shut down for the night. When I started up this morning GMAIL was back to "normal." Assuming that this was just all some kind of temporary gremlin at work this was one of the oddest things to happen in quite some time. I'm hoping case closed.
