And how do I disable it ASAP?

In the settings page, choose Privacy, search, and services from the sidebar. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the Address bar and search option, then click it. Here, you'll see an option that reads Search engine used in the address bar. Open the dropdown list and choose the search engine from the list.

I use Edge also...and tried what you suggested...followed the exact same steps you gave...changed the search engine to Google but when i went to open a tab it was still on Bing...so that didn't work for me...

The search bar in the Window will always be Bing. What changes is search engine at the Address Bar at the top of the window.
