    I'm waiting to see if the policies below will work to stop the automatic Microsoft Edge desktop shortcut creation on each update considering this below from Microsoft:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/de...esktopshortcut

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/de...hortcutdefault

    If you enable this policy a desktop shortcut is created when Microsoft Edge is installed. If you disable this policy, no desktop shortcut will be created when Microsoft Edge is installed. If you don’t configure this policy a desktop shortcut to Microsoft Edge will be created during installation. If Microsoft Edge is already installed, this policy will have no effect.

    I'll just make my nastygram feedback even more nastier, brutaler, and just plain mearner everytime it does it.

    Like telling them that because they produce such crap, hopefully their team is some of the 10,000 dilletants getting fired by Microsoft soon

    I found this Ghacks post and there's no mention of the need for a Group Policy change. Also it's a different DWORD value ( '0' not '1' ) than what's mentioned as an 'Example' in second of these Microsoft Links above.

    Prevent Microsoft Edge from creating Windows desktop shortcuts

    Basically it about simply creating this Registry Entry:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate]
    "CreateDesktopShortcutDefault"=dword:00000000

    Time will tell. ;o)

    It's the same Edge policy as below, but I'm already seeing reports that it's not working.

    Sorry, I'm just coming up to speed after reading the link's comments too. It's doesn't look promising if Edge is already installed.

    Updated to 109.0.1518.61 and Discover site thinks it is an outdated browser and won't let me in.
    Discover said a lot of people are having the same problem and they are working the problem.
    Firefox is working fine.
