Yes, Mike, I get that, BUT you had to allow the enablement package which is a sort of update. This is looking like it just changes when you next open the program!
The most obvious "feature" that is server controlled in Windows is the header on the settings app. Not sure that has made it to release versions yet as all my builds are insider.

And you are quite sure that your version of Canary wasn't updated in the meantime?

If you mean Windows > Settings, as opposed to Edge THAT requires a CU to be installed to happen

I'm actually gobsmacked at all this!
I was a Tester and everywhere I worked, once a stable release was sent to customers, it was sacrosanct. Any bug fixes, feature updates or whatever, needed a patch to be installed, usually with the customer's cooperation.

Yeah, that changed numerous times, now you see it and now don't, slight of MS hand. I all but stopped even noticing it, here's mine now

Correct, in fact, that was one of the features mentioned in the discussion that I had in another post about this, I am looking for the thread of that discussion but I have not found it yet.

Once downloaded in (half)installed any feature or change can be enabled/disabled by changing simple flag in Registry, takes but a second to do it.

    New option in Setting-Downloads (Canary):

When you disable both toggles, the downloads start and end without opening any menu or popup, but you can still see the download progress on the toolbar button.
