Is there a way to restore it?
Not yet, but Microsoft is getting feedback on this new feature.

Update: The change in the omnibox has been reverted in version 86.0.579.0

My current canary and dev versions of Edge are not producing any sound/audio when playing media items. Current stable version works just fine.

Has anyone else encountered this issue...???...or am I just "lucky"...

Edit: Please IGNORE - for some reason the audio began functioning after a quick reboot. Apparently my machine was just making a point with me regarding delaying a reboot after installing various items.

Maybe it do with Windows fast start up! Have you disable this yet?

See my "Edit"...the issue resolved on after a restart. I suspect that it was "me" not "MS" that was the "issue"...
