Latest Microsoft Edge released for Windows

New Microsoft Edge Canary 86.0.569.0 version released. See first post for more details.

I just noticed that the abovementioned Microsoft Edge release page doesn't have an entry for 81.0.416.62 either, even though I see some references to that version earlier in this thread. Is there a more up-to-date version of the release notes page maybe? I'm probably being overly paranoid but I'm not a huge fan of having "mystery" versions of software installed on my computer
EDIT: If anyone else ever got updated to 81.0.416.86, let me know. Thanks!

Three days ago my OS crashed, according to the Win 10 message, due to unsafe software. That was the same day that I got the Edge update. Possibly a coincidence?
The message didn't give me any details about the safety problem, BUT, the Win 10 installation was automatically repaired by a reinstall, which left me with many programmes disappeared! I am now spending a lot of time reinstalling several, mainly from the discs or downloads I saved when first installing Win 10 18 months ago.
Since the repaired Win 10 installation has been active, several messages have popped up and they now take a completely different format from that the message boxes used to have. Additionally, system messages on starting before the Welcome screen have been in a much larger and different style font!
Is there any information about this sneaked in version of the OS and what other nasty surprises are waiting to be discovered?
Tony
It looks completely different because it is completely different. Microsoft dropped their old browser and built the new one off of Chromium so if you're a Chrome user the new format will look very familiar if not it's all strange looking.

As I have acknowledged, I put my message on this thread by mistake - sorry again.
But for information, my eraly actions described above never found out what happened and I eventually solved the problem caused by the weird MS reinstall by restoring my system using an AOMEI system backup from 12th June that was definitely before the problem. With two small tweaks that got lost in the intervening period, the restore worked fine and problems vanished.
More to the topic, I never liked Chrome so never used it. BUT, I DO like Edge and the latest version is even better. I have changed to it on our Win 7 and Win 8.1 desktops as well as Win 10 without any problem. I don't like the way that the history is displayed, but hope that might be improved sometime.

Sorry, I didn't see that.
I rarely use any browser on my Windows machine I almost exclusively connect to Steam. I love my Win 10 Gamer but I'm too old school and haven't learned to completely trust Microsoft security yet
