Yeah, that's happened to me and a few others. I was fortunate to have a backup so I restored. If you have system protection active you may be able to go back. There is a thread on EF here Microsoft Edge Will Not Open?? | Windows 11 Forum

Yep, big fail. I suspect it will try updating in the background and fail again. Fortunately it's not my main browser.

I've stopped using Edge in the last two months, and went back to Chrome, because, it stopped being a speedy browser, and is becoming an over bloated monstrosity:
