Although the title of the thread said 'Tools, File, Edit' etc, I took it from his/her actual post (quoted above), that they only wanted a quick access to their home page. Hence why I posted about how to enable the homepage button in my earlier post.
Hey OP Pdale dude(ette), what are you actually asking for, as you haven't exactly made it clear?
If you want a menu bar, get Firefox (if you want the original Firefox user interface, get Pale Moon). I'm sure that once Edge gets extension/add-on support (that's right, it does NOT have support for add-ons yet), someone will make one that restores the menu bar.
That minimalistic approach is something I really like about Edge. A totally uncluttered screen is a pretty fine thing...it just looks so nice...stuff like menu bars are just plain ugly in comparison (imo). I'm talking about a gaming rig though. For business use, I need the clutter and extensions/add-ins for improved workflow and efficiency.
I haven't used a menu bar in a browser for a long time. I never found a need for it. I generally rely on shortcut keys, options readily available and easy to navigate. Right clicky, etc. But that's just me...
I can't even remember what the menu bar provides that shortcuts and options/tools doesn't provide already. Seems redundant?
I can see some of you guys skipped 8/8.1. WhyMe had it correct in his post #3.
Edge is a WinRT app the same as a Store app. It is similar to IE immersive in Windows 8/8.1. With Edge the menu bar is at the top with the controls split to the right and left which is different than Win32 apps/programs.
IE still exists in 10 if you want to use it. It is in Accessories folder in All apps.
