Help with "Outbox" e-mails not being in new Microsoft Edge

    Hello,

I need help figuring out why all my e-mails that I have set up using the "delay delivery" option are not being sent. I can't get the little "paper airplane" to show up showing my e-mail is ready to go. This function is a huge part of my job and I'm VERY frustrated that it's not working in the new 10 update. Furthermore, our IT department failed to tell me I'd loose all my e-mails that were already set up before the change. Now I'm spending hours/days recreating them all.

Not a happy user of this update!

Hi. Welcome to the TenForums @annfranken

Just so we all get the same picture what service are you using for emails, just the domain name like gmail.com or outlook.com.

How are you accessing your email? I saw in your title the words Microsoft Edge. Just to confirm you are using a browser to access rather than an Office Outlook product, Windows 10 mail app or some other app?

If you are using a browser have you tried an alternate browser like Chrome or Firefox?

    Hi Ken,

    I'm an work for a university, it's a_______@____.edu

I changed my default browser to google chrome, I'm not the most tech savvy person so I think that's what it's going thru. I had a computer that was not compatible with the new Windows version, so the whole university had to either get a new or newer computers to make this happen by the end of the year. I received a "newer" computer. So they installed that and then installed the new Windows 10. Ever since then I've had multiple nuances that are making my job more difficult. This is my major issue. I set up multiple delay delivery e-mails weekly and months ahead of time. These go to hundreds of people. Needless to say, I'm very frustrated and our IT department isn't much help!

Your mail should not have been impacted by changing OS if you are using a browser to access.

Since your change to Chrome has the delayed email function returned.

What browser does your IT department recommend ?

Internet Explorer is their standard default. The delay delivery function/option is there. I've rebuilt some of my many e-mails that got deleted and they're not going out when I have them set up to go.

The browser would have zero issue over what the Webmail portal does. Possible that the delay is there on the server to allow users time to pull back the email before the receiver gets it.

As for changing computers, it is cheaper on a lease to just get all new computers with new volume licenses for an OS, than just buy the new Volume OS license. In turn those previous machines get sold online and in bid lots as refurbs.

To add to the confusion is that Microsoft Office/Outlook is an installed E-Mail Client just as Thunderbird or IncrediMail are, don't rely upon a Browser for their work. The other choice is Webmail/Online E-Mail such as Hotmail.com, Outlook.com, gmail.com, yahoo.com, etc., which do require the Browser.

Thank you for your input, unfortunately I didn't have a say so in whether I received a new or pre-owned computer. But I do see your point.

I wish I could use another e-mail account, but this is work/university related, so my hands are tied. I have to use what they provide to me.

You all are offering good suggestions, and I appreciate your helpful assistance.

If IE is there recommended browser then you can still use this in Win 10. Click start and start typing internet explorer. The app should appear on top of list. Right click and pin to task bar.

I do agree that a browser should not impact but being a university run domain it could have an impact. IE is being phased out and your IT support should be porting their web apps to a modern browser.

Ann: we still don't know what program you are using for email - you either use a program installed on your PC, or a browser-based interface (your subject mentions 'Edge', which is a browser) - so which is it? What button do you click on to get at emails?

If you are emailing via a browser, you will be logging on to a web-site, and the browser should have no effect on what you can do (unless it is in some weird way incompatible).

Of course, your IT department are the ones who should be sorting this out - that is their job, after all!
