Chromium update does not install

After a window appears asking to update chromium. When the ok button is pressed another window pops up displaying the message :


C:\PROGRA~2\Google\Chrome\APPLIC~1\780390~1.97\chrome.dll
Access is denied.
If I choose to refuse the update the Chrome window I had been in freezes. The update window seems to reappear randomly.

The moment I submitted this issue the update reappeared. My Chrome window was frozen and it was necessary to restart my PC.

Chromium based browsers do not come with any third party stuff. You must have downloaded Chrome from some place other than google.com/chrome or Download Chromium - The Chromium Projects

I uninstalled chromium 2 days ago. Since then my PC as not crashed or hung up. Thank you for your comments.
