Newbie after 5 years on Mac, How to find Safari favorites to transfer

I will be picking up Surface For Latop 2 tomorrow from Staples. I think I transferred all my mac files to a 500gb external HD. I have opened all the folders on the ext hd and can't find my bookmarks/favorites. Apple community is useless, their finder app is useless. will someone point me to the favorites folder on a mac HD ? Otherwise I'll have to have Staples do it and I want to avoid the $$.

    Thanks and Cheers

    Try this page:
How to Migrate Safari Bookmarks to a Windows 10 Web Browser
I had Safari on a Windows computer but Apple discontinued support for PCs.
    Apple - Support - Search
When my MacBook Pro died I decided to stay with Windows and Linux Mint, can't remember if I save from the Mac first or not.

Place everything into a cloud drive. As for the favorites and such, you just need to download icloud from Download iCloud for Windows - Apple Support for the Surface (It may have you go to the store), then set it to sync your Safari bookmarks. You do need to have iCloud setup in Mac Os to sync the bookmarks and such to iCloud.

Placing files that are not documents and media that can be opened on any machine, along with that External Drive needs to be formatted exFAT, since Windows cannot read HPFS or APFS without an extra program. Mac OS cannot write to a NTFS drive. Since everything will be in iCloud, also install OneCloud on the Mac and sync all of your personal documents, bookmarks, media into that and with the Surface, you can pull them as you go.

Now of course the easiest method would be to install Edge on the Mac, sync browser favorites into Edge and then on the Surface, use Edge to your content. I use Chrome across all devices so that I do not run into this with the import/export, same as Outlook. Makes things a whole lot easier.

    Greetings,

I dumped Mac almost 3 years ago. After 29 years of Mac only. It's a bumpy transition but then no looking back.

Browsers typically expect you to export the bookmarks to be imported elsewhere. The method above works. I'd recommend Firefox. Although I use Chrome too.

Best Tip I Can Give You: if you're not an Android user yet, become one. If you are one, use Google Apps as 'web apps' and dump them into your taskbar.

The reason to do this is to not bother to get too ecosystem'd into Windows. For instance, why scratch your head trying to figure out Window's Mail app when you can simply drop the Gmail App into your taskbar? It took me a while to realize switching to Windows apps added a needless layer of syncing complexity.
