So I disabled all "security" extensions (four total) I was using bar one (won't mention it since they are banned from here), and I must say Firefox seems much faster. Maybe a placebo effect, or they were really slowing things down. I'm going to give it a while to see how I feel. It feels a bit "naked", but I know the one left on protects with the same, if not more, protection of the others. I think over time when a new one came out I just kept adding them to test them, and they kept collecting in my browser, but since they all do the same basic functions, I think they were conflicting with each other. I guess too much of a good thing really is bad.

Your suggestion to use Traffic Light is good one.
This doesn't seem to be working for me on either Chrome or Firefox. By the description and screenshots when you do a Google search there's to be a green circle with a check mark, but none of my results show that. I can't find any settings for it either. Am I missing something?
Screenshot from Firefox's extension page example:
@ Bobby -Traffic Light on Win 10 seems to run well and has simple options. I appears to do the job with no delay. I hope you work it out.
For me it depends upon the Google search URL.
Try: h**ps://www.google.com/webhp
That works for me as does local UK Google search:
h**ps://www.google.co.uk
But if I switch to:
h**ps://www.google.com
Then no advice is shown in search results.
If I visit a dodgy site Traffic Light shows:
Visit the same website with MBAM Browser Guard enabled shows:

FYI: Traffic Light also works for me in DDG:
DuckDuckGo — Privacy, simplified.
But not in qwant.com so it seems to depend where you search from.
