Edge Chromium Dev v77.0.223.0 x32 won't update, same with chrome

On my laptop I'm running the 32 bit version of edge chromium dev and it refuses to update to the latest version of edge chromium beta and chrome. FF updates without issue so I'm confused as to what is stopping this process. Do any of you have any suggestions? I'm running 1903 build 18362.356 32 bit home. Also the new beta will not install at all.

Not sure about Edge but with Chrome just get the Installer file and run. Did that on my laptop earlier this week.

It very well may resolve the Edge issue once Chrome is on new release.

I sign into Chrome so I lost nothing running installer file. This is a fix they recommend. I use this process before on different devices.

Using the installers ends in the same result but I did notice that the installed browser cores are both the same at 77.0.xxx.x.

If you click on the three dots, upper right of Chrome, then Help, About Google Chrome what error code does it fail on?

This is what I see from both browsers now as the check for updates button doesn't show. I've already submitted feedback to both about it. Edge beta will not install at all which I also mentioned in my feedback.

When is the last time you restarted system?

I would do this and then do not check for updates, or look at About Google Chrome for at least 30 minutes.

It all depends which version of those browsers that you are running. Unlike FF which has become a perpetual beta. Chromium based browsers are not updated on a weekly basis. The 77 build is the latest Chromium build and MS is giving users access to two different builds of Edge. Beta, Canary and Dev are the three different builds that you can use. If you are not using Canary or Dev builds, You will only see updates when a major change or security update is pushed.

Restarting doesn't impact the error. I tried uninstalling, rebooting then attempted to reinstall per MS and even that doesn't work anymore. None of the downloadable installers will work now so I can't even reinstall the dev browser even when using the old installer as they all fail when uncompressing the files according to the error message.

One thing I'm trying right now is I've got the full beta enterprise offline installer and it just failed too so I no longer have any edge chromium browser installed. I mean I've got chrome, ff, IE and the original edge all installed so its not like I have to have it.

Thanks for your replies but I'm going to leave this one alone and go do other things.

SFC /scannow found errors, dism restore health fixed most but I reran sfc for good measure and it found and fixed the remaining problems. Once I rebooted I was able to install edge chromium beta so issue solved.
