Ok. Dang. It was definitely something I did; but I don't yet know what. I feel bad for wasting a lot of good people's time; but the issue is so novel and masked by the fact that no other app exhibits the phenomenon.

I re-enabled IE 11 and it neither exhibited the behavior nor fixed Edge's, making it 4 total browsers and countless apps that are unaffected.. So, out of frustration (and ideas), I restored back to a point just after I first received the laptop (ugh!). The issue went away. I started re-applying some of the changes I had made, which I thought were innocuous, and have narrowed down the cause to an as-yet-unknown service I have disabled. Edge [apparently] requires it for copying/cutting/pasting and [seemingly] no other browser or app does.

I have been up for >30 hours and need to get some sleep. After I get some rest, I will narrow the cause down to the service that Edge requires for copy/cut/paste. I cannot imagine why no other app does; but I can consistently fix the issue by re-enabling all of the disabled services back to their factory defaults. Run my script to disable a specified set of services and the phenomenon returns.

One new twist is that now, unlike before I restored, when I hit Ctrl+X it closes the browser. That wrinkle could have really confused the issue [for me] when I first started researching it.

I am really sorry to have wasted your time. I am typically more diligent in such matters. I just didn't see how disabling some unneeded services would cause this issue. Still don't. Like I said, the fact that no other app is affected led me away from further investigating the changes I made. E.g., if my WiFi had quit connecting, I would immediately noticed and assumed I had disabled something required. That I do not use Edge (other than implicitly in the Start | Search), coupled with the fact that in the last six weeks nothing else has been impacted, masked the issue for me. Again, I apologize.

As of now, I consider the issue resolved. I will figure out the required service, report back here, and close this thread.

    Thanks for letting us know.
Standard advice on services is- leave well alone. They may be interrelated, with unexpected consequences if you change things.

Glad you were able to reproduce it. My pattern of working is
    - keep simple record of changes
    - new base disk image after an upgrade
    - note each change/installation/uninstallation
    - differential image
    etc

Microsoft Edge does not use the standard OS clipboard. Instead, it uses the Clipboard User Service (cbdhsvc), which I have disabled. Re-enabling the service (and restarting) restores copy/cut/paste in Edge. I have not yet encountered any other app using this service instead of the standard clipboard.

It says either you specified a destination not valid error and i fixed it. Either you Specified a Destination Address that is not Valid or Remote Server is Down
    Glad you figured it out.

Clipboard User Service - cbdhsvc - exists only in the latest Windows 10 updates only. Specifically in 1809 and 1903 versions.

So I think The Edge was using the standard clipboard service in the older versions.
