Spam volumes are generally correlated to address leakage via database hacks, the specific email provider ls less relevant.
The easy way to check is on... Have I been Pwned or...Firefox Monitor

Redundancy across any critical online service is important, whether it is email, banking, ISP's et al. Sharing of infrastructure is becoming more prevalent to save costs, so be careful with who you choose as 'plan B' lest it effectively ends up being the same as plan A...

I've noticed my mobile apps for banking and email working when there have been severe outages on web access, so that's an alternative route worth having.

I have checked Have I been Pwned a number of times, and most of the incidents are pretty old at this point. Actually they involve my main account, not my Yahoo account. Yet I get very, very little spam on my main account, certainly non of the crap that I get constantly in my Yahoo account. I'm sure that my main account ISP simply does a much better job of filtering spam than does Yahoo.

If it does a better job by not sending it to the spam/junk folder then you run the risk of it bouncing/blackholing legitimate emails.
So the DMARC settings come into play there (as well as DKIM and SPF).

I've got about twenty addresses across various providers, including domains, the only one that gets inundated with spam is the oldest Outlook.com address (nee Hotmail) which I've had since 1998.
That account is listed on HIBP several times.

None of my Yahoo addresses get spam, most of my other addresses don't either, and they aren't listed on HIBP. ( Although I do have HIBP alerts set up for all of them and an MXtools real time domain reputation monitor.)
