@Craig I vary how I install Firefox with regard to overwrite the orevious version or fresh install. Firefox can be uninstalled through programmes and features with no loss of personal data such as extensions, bookmarks etc. This is because your Firefox profile is stored in a different location to the Firefox files. By default the Firefox profile is in C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and this remains untouched when uninstalling Firefox.
However I would recomend that a backup of the profile is retained in a safe plce just in case of a mishap.

Last time I tried to revert back to Stable (69b3 > 68.0), Firefox got all upset and started telling me to create a new profile. So I'd suggest if going backward, you uninstall and re-install, like DooGie does, thru Programs and Features. If you do it thru Revo or similar, DO NOT let it blow away your appdata (profile lives there....).

Hi DooGie, the Firefox profile folder is kept in Roaming, not Local. In the profile folder in Local, Firefox saves the Safebrowsing database.

Looks like there could be potential problems if i try the beta and then decide to return to the current version, so rather than take a chance, i guess i will just stick with the current version...Appreciate all the feedback with the pluses and minuses of making the change...it helped me decide...

DooGie, I thought you wrote Local instead of Roaming as a mistake, but now I realize that you just dont know. The Firefox profile folder under Roaming is were Firefox saves its settings, extensions, etc. That is the big one, the real profile folder, the one you want to save if you uninstall Firefox, but want to keep settings. Under Local, Firefox saves the Safebrowsing database, this database is updated by Firefox everyday. The folder under Local has nothing to do with settings, extensions.
