    Me too!

Not fussy on the UI though, gun metal grey, non-native menus, bunch of glowing focus rectangles...

It's not really bad at all, takes some getting used to. The one thing some people may find not to their liking is the change to the context menu. It's a bit stretched out vertically, I guess to accommodate lappys and fat fingers.

It can be reverted to the compact/normal mode in about:config. Toggle this value:

    browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled

It's also rumored that they're gonna ditch Compact Mode...

but, you can preserve it, for now, in 89 and up with

    browser.compactmode.show set to true

Actually, it says unsupported in 89 beta, but it's choosable and seems to work and stick. I have it set on FF 89b4.

I just checked your about:config and it was already set to TRUE. Even if I go back and choose NORMAL or TOUCH it stays set to TRUE. Aunt Mary ain't tellin' Uncle Tom the whole story!

So I decided to go for the beta to check out the Proton stuff. I have the theme set to system default, but Firefox doesn't show it. It shows all grey. How do you get color back in the titlebar?

No. It's still there if you want it.

Wow. They removed the color from the titlebar. Stupid move. 1701266 - Proton TitleBar color - Default Theme doesn't match to Windows accent color

I remember they did this once before, and had a huge backlash from users. I guess they never learn as I'm sure it will happen again.
