Latest Firefox released for Windows [2]

I just played your demo. I did notice that the right pane was slow to populate and then rendered the thumbnails after. When I go to something similar, all is pretty much instantaneous. What's your net speed? Even a speed of 50-100mb/s would fill faster than that.

Hardware acceleration on both? Other than "unmentionables", I can't think of anything else.

You track it but you don't document it, your hardware doesn't change, your environment and variables don't change, so, you lose what went wrong and when!

If you want to experiment........ you've already done a vestal virgin install of 84 and get this. Go to the FTP server and get
one maybe 5-10 versions back and install it.
