How to Remove HP Sure Click

I just bought a new HP Probook lap top which cam with HP Sure Click installed for secure browsing.

I never activated it and uninstalled it. The icon still appears in Chrome and Edge and I can't remove it (see below). The slider cannot be moved to disable it. How do I remove this irritating bloatware?

The Sure Click extension isn't in Edge but is locked in Chrome. I uninstalled / reinstalled Chrome and that fixed it. Yet another example of poorly engineered HP bloatware.

That Sure Click just appeared again despite Sure Click not being installed. I had to uninstall /reinstall Chrome again. I found a reference to a Sure Click file in the Registry which referenced a Sure Click file in c:\windows\system32\wbem. I'm unsure what that directory does but I zapped the registry entry and referenced file.

    Update 1:
The Chrome Sure Click extension just appeared again. I checked chrome://policy and found a system wide policy was being set. I deleted the Google policy in the Registry here Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\

The Sure Click extension is now gone in all accounts. I'm mystified what is setting that policy. Any ideas?

    Update 2:
What do you think of this advice from Bromium support?

We suspect it may be caching the group policy value from :\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Registry.pol

One solution is to try and delete this file.

I've just got a new HP laptop, and this was the first Google result for the issue, so I'll tag on my findings here.

    The registry entry is in
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\ExtensionInstallForcelist

Uninstall Chrome. Delete the registry value. (Then for extra guarantee, reboot the system). Then reinstall Chrome.
You should then be free of HP's extension.

Google actually was quite helpful in explaining all this. If you look at the extensions in Chrome, you can see the extension is "forced by policy". Then visiting Chrome's policies (chrome://policy/) shows an 'ExtensionInstallForcelist' policy, and you can click on that for more info, which takes you to this page: Chrome Enterprise Policy List & Management | Documentation
    | Google Cloud
    - which then shows you where the registry entry is.

I've been rid of SureClick since my fix. I since received information from Bromium as shown below. I also found a useful utility Registry Policy Viewer which was useful in working out what was wrong Registry Policy Viewer 1.5 - Group Policy Software - SDM Software | Configuration Experts

    1. Download the Chrome group policy tempaltes from https://dl.google.com/dl/edgedl/chro..._templates.zip
    2. Navigate to Start > Run: gpedit.msc
    3. Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates
    4. Right-click Administrative Templates, and select Add/Remove Templates
    5. Add the chrome.adm template (from "windows\adm\en-US" within the zip file) via the dialog
    6. Within gpedit navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM) > Google > Google Chrome > Extensions and double-click on "Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions"
    7. Then set the policy to "Not Configured" and hit "Apply"
