Google Chrome icon blank in Win 10 start menu

Hi there.

Every time Google Chrome updates, the icon of the program goes blank in Windows 10 start menu (see attached picture).

I know how to fix it temporary, but are there any permanent fix to this as the issue returns ever so often?

Thanks! I used the "Clear_Live_Tile_Cache.bat" as basis and created a small BAT-to-EXE-file for invisible execution in Task scheduler, so every time this happens, it get fixed automatically on reboot. Works great.

I had the same problem and upon investigation I figured that the Chrome Icon was in this location "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs". Copy and Paste this location on your Windows Explorer and you can see that this location has many more shortcuts.

To fix the issue, I Cut and pasted the shortcut from the above mentioned location to this location below
"C:\Users\binsaj\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs".

My system is windows 10 home 20h2.

I know this is old but my chrome icon was missing today.
After several failed attempts (clear cache, etc) and reboots, nothing was working.
What worked was uninstall / install chrome.

I've just lived with this annoying problem for years.... just a blank icon for Chrome. But this solution worked! I don't know if it will stay fixed, because I've fixed this before... probably by using one of the many fixes that DIDN'T work this time, but unless those shortcuts are removed from the menus where I copied them, I don't see why it would.

BTW.... The same trick fixed the blank logo for Microsoft Edge. Don't ask me why I have an icon for Microsoft Edge on my Start desktop, because I can't answer that one ???? In any case, it did fix it!
