    Additional email addresses

I open Windows 10 Mail, start a new email, and type the 1st couple letters of the recipient's email address. As expected, it offers me several names that start with those letters. However, when I check for these addresses in People, they are not shown in there. Where are these additional addresses stored and how can I add them to People so that I can see, modify and/or delete them?

Have you tried opening people .... go to the gear (top right) click on the email account you want?
That should import your contacts into people. whether deleting them (right click/ delete) you can turn off
future additions by turning off Contact List Display Scroll down in settings.
will remove them from windows 10 email is a toss up.
Nope just tried it ,it wont remove them from email

One solution is a third party email program that maintains a contact list.
I believe Thunderbird does. I believe you can get it at

I did go to People and clicked on the gear. It lists 2 accounts, my gmail account and my imap account. Neither has the email addresses that I'm offered when I start a new email and start to type into the To address. Looking at the addresses that come up, it looks like addresses that I have communicated with in the past. Where does Windows Mail get these? I can't find anyplace that would store the names. They are certainly not in People and I can't find another list to import from.

You are talking about two totally different things, contacts versus predictive text input in mail client.

In most email clients, like Windows Mail, when you start typing an address in TO, CC or BCC fields, the client does not pick the addresses suggested from your contacts. Instead, it suggests addresses you have sent email earlier, or addresses of those who have sent email to you.

If I now sent you an email, and you replied to it, next time when you write an email to someone whose address starts with K, my email address would be one of the suggested to you although I am not in your contacts.

    Further observation

OK, that makes sense. My only aggravation is that Mail does not offer the entry in People as a choice when it finds a previous email. And it isn't consistent. I have a group that I regularly email. When I type each name, I get different responses. Some are the name from People, some are from the email addresses, and one, I just noticed, recently changed from 1st name, last name, to 1st name only. Since I emailed the group for the 1st time all at once, I would expect that these would all be offered in the same format, either email or name. And where are they stored? I just purchased a new laptop and the "mailed to" email list is already there. Really spooky!!
