You've lerned the hard way Wyn, always keep a backup of your FF profile. Moz backup still works very well.
I've been there before and just built a new profile but it does take some time.
I messed up big time once, even lost my Mozback file. Mounted an MR image and pulled it off that, and used a small crowbar to do a transplant.

    Thought/Question:

All of the computers in this lab have the same stuff on them; is it possible I could borrow the FF profile from one of them and put it on the computer that no longer has a profile?

Edit: BTW, I tried to find Mozback and it said it's no longer being developed.

You're correct it's no longer being develhttp://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ed but you can still get it from here MozBackup - Backup tool for Firefox and Thunderbird
    It still works fine

    Problem Solved!

I restored the computer yesterday, but didn't have time to check things out. This morning, when I was trying to follow some Profile instructions, Firefox opened! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!

I've done some preliminary checking, and it seems everything works. I'm going to back FF up on all the computers in this room!

Edit: Thanks, everyone, for your help. I'm going to show my students this thread so they can see how TF works. I think some will definitely want to join up!

Glad to know that you got it sorted.

For information only; in such cases, what I have done in the past, is to create a new profile using the Profile Manager and then just copy/replace the important files in the new profile from the old problematic profile ( before deleting the old profile ). This way I get my bookmarks, passwords etc working without copying over any other problem files which might still be in the old profile.

The important files are shown in the link below ( look under Your important data and their files )

Good news, Wynona! I presume you could get to an MR backup to restore, or was it something else? Not important, glad you're all back up and running!

The machine had a restore point just before the idiot picked up whatever it was, and I restored. Which is amazing, because I've rarely gotten Restore to work!
