No Gmail or FB after crash

When my computer restarted after the power outage Saturday night in NYC everything looked good, except Gmail and FB. Both of them responded as if I were an unknown user. I managed to get FB working ok (because I sort of recalled the password), but gmail was very difficult. It works now but I do not recall my pwd. My two questions are: 1) why did both of these apps treat me as a new user and 2) how can I reset the gmail password? I've looked on the website but I'm afraid I'll lose it totally in the resetting process. Gmail worked fine on my phone.

Also, what's with the round fuzzy cursor? Not good.

What browser are you using. Most browsers you can view saved password the crash could have lost cookies I would run a full disk check

I would also clear all browsing data from both browsers.

Assuming you are in Gmail mail check how your recovery options are setup. Recovery options allow you to prove to gmail you are the rightful owner.

Some people use cell phones for a text, an alternate email and google can send you code on your cell phone. You periodically see this security info when you sign into Gmail and they ask you to verify it is current.

You could have some other corruption in some of your network settings. I would power down router and pc and then restart.

Run the following five bolded commands. Use a Command Prompt(admin) or Powershell(admin)

Do not key in info in brackets, there for your information.

ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refresh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)
netsh interface ip delete arpcache (reset Address Resolution Protocol cache)

Interesting comment that your cursor is fuzzy. Your machine went down hard.

I would run sfc /scannow to see if you have any corruption and I would be reloading my video drivers.

On my desktops I use a UPS. Can really save you a lot in times like these.

So I am trying another approach. I'm trying for account recovery. I have my cell # which is attached to the account. It now asks for my first and last name, Joe Blow. I put them in. Get error: Not the name on the account. YET, when I go to:

    Google Account

it says Welcome, Joe Blow. I mean, I hate to say it but WTF?

    This looks like amateur hour.

Please clear browsing data and run those resets.

I recovered my gmail pwd, for a few accounts. Now I can't log into Disqus. It sends me a pwd link and when I click it I get a big red box:

Same problem here. Hibernated computer last night, and it wasn't an outage. Can't access Gmail as well.
