error 0x8007042b when adding a Yahoo Mail account to MS Mail App

When using the mail app in:
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
    OS Version: 10.0.18362 N/A Build 18362

    I'm getting the error code:
    error 0x8007042b

    I've disabled anti-virus but that didn't work.

What I'm trying to do is:
    1. Go to the settings (the cog wheel in the app)
    2. Manage accounts
    3. + add account
    4. and choose Yahoo
    5. this gives the error: error 0x8007042b

I've 4 other mail accounts so resetting the app I haven't tried. Any other way around this issue?

You may need to either turn on two-factor authentication on your Yahoo account, change a setting on your Yahoo account to allow less secure apps to access your account or to manually set up the account.

Tried all of the things but to no avail. I've tried to disable the firewall but still same issue. The option for Google is doing the same.

I might try geek uninstaller to remove it that way.

If you’ve tried all suggestions including setting up two factor authentication & creating an app specific password for the account then there may be a problem with the Mail app.
As it’s also doing this with GMail then it does sound like an authentication problem as both this & Yahoo dislike working with insecure apps.
The free version of Revo now allows you to uninstall Apps.

Geek uninstaller didn't even work even after getting rid of leftover reg entries. I'll try revo now.

Google has this device in as it's trusted devices. And halting the Credential manager didn't do anything.

It does sound like you’ll have to set up two factor authentication & create an app specific password to use instead of your account password, if that still doesn’t work then you might have to await more answers or ask Microsoft to fix their app.

Go to your users folder (e.g. C:\Users\John).
Right click, select properties, Security, Advanced.
Click Add, select entity, advanced, search.
Click on ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES, accept. Select Full Control and apply (Ignore errors trying to apply permissions).
    Then:

Click on start and type “Services”.
Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator”.
In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and “Stop” it.
Restart the computer and “Start” the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
Restart the computer and it should work fine.

How to add Yahoo and gmail to Mail in Windows 10

I went this route and added passwords for yahoo mail. I might try this method above to get gmail to buck up!

@Bastet, this is probably what you were referring to the whole time.

    YAHOO MAIL FIX
2FA needs to be enabled which it already was and just follow these steps below.

    1. In yahoo mails account security, click on manage app passwords.

    2. After selecting other app and entering the new app name in the text box

    3. Now, in Windows 10 mail app, add this type of account.

    4. In Windows 10 mail app, enter your details and the password generated by step 2.

    Fully functional mail app again.

    GMAIL FIX

Now similar steps to setting up Gmail. Here I'll only go through the Gmail steps as Windows Mail App setup is the exact same.

Follow this jpeg below, all steps are merged as there's a 5 attachment limit.

Yes, once 2-factor authentication is enabled you should then create the app specific password & enter it instead of the account password.

This hasn't fixed the problem with Windows calendar and the same error code shows up when adding a google account so I've reopened this.

Here's what I've tried this time:
    1. Added a brand new user which solved the issue but I want to retain this account so that's no good. Although that shows that it's a user account issue.
    2. I tried to use RegFromApp to see if it could find any new reg keys when that error came up but the program wouldn't allow any windows store apps to be added.
    3. I then uninstalled the Mail and Calendar app via Geek uninstaller and removed the reg keys it displayed after it had done.
    4. In PowerShell I ran WSReset.exe and then wmic useraccount get name, sid which returns this sort of format which is my useraccount details. x-x-x-xx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx-xxxx. Went to registry address: `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\AppxAllUserStore`
and deleted that same user account number from earlier.
    5. Then opened RegScanner app and deleted all registry items that contained the PackageFamilyName : microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe.
    6. All but those in the image at the bottom as they were undeletable.
    7. Needless to say, this didn't work either and Windows just silently reinstalled the Mail and the Calendar app upon restart with the same issue. Nice!

And also there are two Credential Manager services in the services list CredentialEnrollmentManagerUserSvc_588e7 and the normal Credential Manager. I did notice when I created the new user there was a 3rd one of those added and as I've said before this user had no issues. The CredentialEnrollmentManagerUserSvc_588e7 cannot be modified in any way other than to stop or start it. Maybe if this was removed or reinstated then it may solve the issue.

How is it possible to remove these below? As it won't allow it. It won't even allow changing permissions on them. Those cache files and that other file which could be the problem or culprit.
