Sorry thought that might help have you tried google its self don't know about Crome as don't use it.
Yes Edge is a lot smoother and once they start adding to it later will be awesome, but it does what I want it to without any problems.
Anyway back to your problem did you come from windows 7 or 8, or 8.1 and was IE11 working ok in any of them. I know not long ago they did an update for IE11 did you get it and install it

Yes, I came from Windows 7 and it was working normally there before the upgrade to 10. Everything else about the upgrade worked really well by the way, even some esoteric HP laptop features such a touch-sensitive controls bar above the keyboard and a fingerprint reader, both of which I was expecting to have issues with.

My next step when I get a chance will be to try a clean-install of 10 and see if it works that way.

Yes, I've tried all the obvious user-focussed stuff, Windows thinks IE is installed fine but it just won't start. It will start in Safe Mode, but that of course doesn't support the USB device that I need to access via IE (which is a universal remote control, with a website to edit the keypress functions, but the company's legacy website only works in IE). I've tried disabling IE Add-ons, but that doesn't help. The Windows event logs are included in my post a little earlier in the thread in case that helps.

Yes I have looked at them.
In all the laptops and computers I have helped install windows 10 on, IE11 and Edge both load and up to now I have done 20 for friends, so looks like somehow your upgrade got corrupted,
You did not do a custom install did you ?

How do you start IE in safe mode in Win10?

I'm planning to download Win10 and reinstall from scratch. Not favourite option, clearly.

Not sure if it will work

Right click on start menu and go to programs and features
click on Turn Windows features on or off

from the list that comes up try selecting IE, or toggle it off and on to see if it works

This does not work my i.e.11 loads but i have absolute constant recover webpage error
