    FireFox 67.0.1 & Flash ???

The other day FF had an update to 67.0.1. When I logged into an web site that uses Adobe Flash, FireFox said I needed a update to Flash and to get it here (A button). The button took me to the flash download web site, I proceeded to down load the installer. I then ran the installer, and it quit with an error message indicating that I needed to uninstall the current Flash pgm before installing. In my haste, I missed the the 2 little check boxes that also ended up installing MacAfee. So I fired up my trusty REVO uninstaller and proceed to get rid of "MacAfee". While there I decided to also get rid of Adobe Flash which I did. At completion, REVO said remaining files will be deleted after a re-Boot.

After re-boot, I went to where I downloaded the Flash Installer to re-run it, but it was GONE ! (looks like after quitting it deletes itself?) Went thru all of the steps above and re-downloaded the Flash Installer, but this time I unchecked the "MacAfee" software. Ran the installer again and got the same message ???

First thought was that REVO missed something - It didn't no trace of Flash except for a Flash service that remained running. I proceeded to stop that service and changed it to "never run". Re-booted and tried again. Same results as before "Flash won't install because Flash is still running".

I even manually searched for Adobe Flash and tried it again, ending with the same results !

I'm looking for ideas on why this won't install ?

PS: And YES the Flash installer always deletes itself at completion.

You reminded me to check mine. I went to about:addons and in Plugins it said it was out of date. I used FF's 'Update Now' link to go to Adobe and get the installer....

...which installed in 67.0.1 without a problem. I don't see why it doesn't for you.

That is the only bit that we have in common. You could always make a copy before running it if you think you might need it more than once

I don't understand either, but this is what I get:

And if I follow the link to check if Flash is installed, I get this:

It isn't installed. Maybe a drink is in order

I checked everything on their list.

@Josey Wales or @DooGie may have some ideas. They seem to know FF inside out....

I run into that occasionally. That's why I check for Flash Player updates only with the shortcut in Control Panel.

My first thoughts as well Samuria. @storageman first thing I'd do is run a full virus scan on your system followed by a scan using MBAM. If those come up clean then search your PC for any traces of Flash and if you find any then delete them. I'd also uninstall Firefox. After a reboot Re-install a new copy of Firefox and go to the Adobe homepage and download the correct version of Flash for Firefox.

Actually I'd expect your AV to find something though, as Samuria suggested it sounds like something has directed you to a scam website.

I agree Firefox will not run it at least the newer Quantum Releases.

@storageman, you could uninstall Flash (or the remnants of Flash in your computer by using their Uninstaller). Download the Uninstaller from the link below.

    Uninstall Flash Player for Windows

Reboot after uninstalling Flash, and download a fresh copy of Flash, get it from link below. This installer doesn't have anything added to it (No McAfee, or anything else). Go almost to the end of the page and click, "Flash player for Firefox - NPAPI" to download the installer for Firefox.
