YouTube TV on the new Edge

I've been using Firefox but I thought I'd give the new developer version of Microsoft Edge a try. I'm running Version 76.0.167.1 (Official build) dev (64-bit). We stream video with YouTube TV for out home instead of cable but the YouTube TV site for PC says to use Google Chrome or Firefox. This version of Edge is base on Chromium so why wouldn't to work?

Because it is not Chrome, nor Firefox and is still in a beta stage.

Probably right. I thought Chrome & Chromium were basically the same but I guess not.

    According to this thread:
Microsoft Edge Insider preview builds are now ready for you to try
Youtube not functioning on the new edge was a glitch that they have fixed. I'm not sure if that applies to youtube TV, but there ya go

As of this morning, YouTube TV is working. Now I can dump Firefox.

Nope, is too, vague. Nope what? In beta stage, yes, but MS was on it & it's fixed. Apparently Chromium is similar to Chrome after all. That's good to know!

    Thanks for your help.

Chromium is an open source project and produces the underlying browser engine.

Chrome, Edge and Vivaldi all use this engine as the basis for their browsers but then tweaks it and adds to it to produce their own browser.

Never said they were the same. Perhaps YouTube TV just added a third browser, the new Edge, powered by Chromium to their list of workable browsers.

Google and Microsoft have had issues with how the new Edge browser is coded to handle streaming in the format that is used for YT. Google's blocking new Microsoft Edge from accessing new design - gHacks Tech News

I would suggest using a stable non-Edge browser at this time, due to Edge is still in Beta development and not all websites will work with it. FF is still better than Edge.
