Internet Explorer, Edge and Favourites.

    Internet Explorer, Edge and Favourites.

I use IE and Edge mainly because some sites do not seem to work well in IE now. I like IE and have a hundred or more favourites saved in folders. I recently imported these to Edge but I have a small problem. If I save a new favourite to IE I then have to repeat the process in Edge. If I accumulate new favourites in IE can I just delete the imported favourites from Edge and re-import the up to date favourites from IE. Will this work or having imported the list once will I not be able to repeat the process? Any thoughts please?

That is exactly what I do and it works with both Edge and the Chrome Browsers.
Not a particularly efficient method, but it works no problem.

I must have several thousand Favourites which have accumulated for 20 years.

These are also Exported from IE as an *.HTM file to a Folder in Documents which is in turn part of File History a quick look and there are 50 copies over the last 2 years.

At work I use both IE and Firefox (most are still on Win7 Pro, as lease rolls occur the company's moving to W10 on the new laptops) both are listed as official company browsers. Some newer applications work better in Firefox.

When I add a favorite to either IE or Firefox I copy the URL, open a new tab in the other browser, paste the URL, open the page, and bookmark the site. For me that seems to be the best way to maintain favorite duplicity in two browsers.

Whatever works best for you is the best way to do it

Yes, the problem is I save so many sites to Favourites that I was trying to avoid manually saving to both browsers especially as many that I save are just temporary. If I can delete from Edge and import again, that will save time. Thanks for your thoughts.

Had another thought @Judesman, have you tried importing to Edge without deleting the existing favorites to see if the import would add only the new ones without duplicating the existing favorites?

It'd be worth a try to see if you could eliminate the middle step of deleting then re-importing.

Will this work or having imported the list once will I not be able to repeat the process?
AFAIK you should be able to import favorites repeatedly without concern.

I have bookmarks that go back to Netscape, some work and most don't anymore. This used to be simple when you could tell the browser where your bookmarks were, you'd simply point each browser to the same favorites folder.

Now, in this race to be your exclusive browser, they've seemed to turn off the perks that made life simple all the way around.

Chrome takes another step and makes each link begin with "Chrome://"

I only use IE and Edge and I am not much of a techie so need to keep things simple.
