Random Tabs Created With Firefox and Duck Duck Go

I use Firefox as my Browser and Duck Duck Go as my Search Engine.

Sometimes, when my fingers go wonkers with the touchpad and the pointer; one of the tabs will develop a mind of its own and slide across the window to create a new page.

When I was using Google Chrome, I had to have my finger on the touchpad and slide my tab to the end, to create a new page.

But, now my tabs have a life of their own.

Previously, all I had to do was move to the new page and slide the tab to the far right or left and it would return to the previous window.

But that will not work for me since I have installed Firefox and DDG. I was assuming it was a problem with FF, but it might be DDG. The tabs stop at the end.

I can't return the tabs back to the previous window. Yeah, I can always read the content and then close out the new page, but that is not what I want to do. Especially, if I am referencing something and have to switch from one window to the next. It is annoying.

I have tried yelling at it, but that has not worked either.

Can I slide a tab to the side and return it to the original page, as I was doing in GChrome ?

    Am I missing something ?

Or, am I stuck with the new page, when my fingers go wild ?

    -----

By the way, is Opera better than Firefox ?

I have heard good things about it.

Apparently, they have a built in ad/ popup screener that FF does not have?

Are their any browsers that have built in virus protection ( except Windows and Defender) and built in ad/popup prevention ? It might be better than FF, which I think is better than Google Chrome.

    --------

Currently I am using Firefox, Duck Duck Go, Adblock Plus and Google Ghostery.
As well as CCleaner, Malwarebytes and Defender.
Is there anything better? Anything else I should consider?

    Thanks

    I don't use Firefox or Chrome—Opera main, Edge & IE 11 occasional backup—so for what it's worth:

That's normal—you're meant to be able to pull a tab off and make a new window with it.

I was assuming it was a problem with FF, but it might be DDG.
    No, not DDG.

I can't return the tabs back to the previous window.
When that occasionally happens me in Opera, I usually just copy the URL and paste it in a new tab in the main window, then close the rogue window. Futzing to relocate the rogue tab in the main window doesn't work so well.

I'm very happy with Opera. The have the ad/popup thing, and also a VPN if that's of use.
Opera is based on the same engine as Chrome, so it can use most/all of the Chrome extensions, which is nice.
I can't compare v Firefox, but I prefer it to Edge or IE.
    Currently I am using…
You're well covered with that armory :)

I might try Opera for a while and see how that works.
Having a VPN to give additional security and privacy would be nice.

    Thanks
