CRTL-ALT-Del, start task manager, Click on Edge, lower right corner "End Task"

@Clockman - do you see a screen with a blue background when you press CTRL-ALT-Del at the same time - or not?

What happens if you press CTRL SHIFT ESC together? (This should launch task manager).

If no response to either you may need to simply press and hold your power button for about 5s.

Hi, do you mean ... your PC is working normally, except when you launch Edge?

And if you create a new user for test purposes, does the same thing happen?
(This is useful to distinguish between user profile problems and general Windows problems).

If it is an Edge- only issue, try
Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10 | Tutorials
(search that for Edge, then follow instructions at the top of the section - Option 2).

    Hi: dalchina
Yes, the computer is working normally, and Edge does not give the gray screen all the time. The problem seems to occur after the computer has not been used for a period of time. As I stated in a early post I am commutating by phone with a friend and I am trying to help him. I will use Quick Assist to try and resolve his problem when I have a idea on what to try. I have asked the friend to make a picture of the Edge gray screen the next time it happens and send it to me. I will post the picture when I get it.

Check creating new user, and ask for the precise sequence leading to the problem. Thanks.

It's been almost 2 months since I posted the question. I have not heard anything or been told if the problem still exist.
I am marking this thread as solver.
