Why is Mozilla Thunderbird so slow at receiving new messages?
-
IDK, all of my Imap & POP accounts are pretty fast in Thunderbird. The only time I notice a delay is when I delete something from my internet supplier email account and quickly switch to a different account, I get a pop up message saying the "imap account operation did not conclude" ? But every time I return to the account, the deleted message is GONE as I requested ? This just started with the last 2 version updates. ???

Personally I only delete webmail (gmail) messages via logging in through a browser. I use an email client for reading/ replying to or composing and sending messages.

No issues with Thunderbird here, been using it for a very very long time. Pretty much instant here.

Well its not really a problem, since it actually executes the delete op, but the msg does pop up.
In reguards to @Compumind issue, I see No delay on retrieving Imap messages under T-bird. If there is a message waiting, I get it almost immediately. I guess we lost focus on what his issue is ? I do have a IMAP account that refuses to update, unless I enter the account. I believe its a setting issue, but have not found it as of yet. If I enter the account via T-bird, I get the messages, but not like a couple of other IMAP accounts which get their emails posted right after I launch T-bird ?

Maybe try another email client as a test to see if you get the same problem. You can install for testing and still keep Thunderbird.
Something is up with Authentication on my ISP's mail server.
I get the same results with Outlook.
Another thing I can try is using another mail server and checking the results.
First, let me try the eM Client and see if there is any difference.
Cheers!

It starts up immediately with no delay and receives emails very fast. It generally feels more responsive and robust than previous versions.

OK, thanks. I look forward to testing it.
