Linkedin always displaying the cookie notice

    hi guys,

this is really bizarre, no matter what browser i am on, every time i load linkedin i get the annoying cookie notice, i just tested on my wife's computer and there seems fine on Edge, so something on my machine.

I have reported the problem to MS support on twitter as well as on linkedin's but at this point I don't understand where the problem lies, just scanned for malware or ad aware stuff, but everything seems normal.

we tried to block/unblock cookies but nothing changed. clearing MS edge or running cleaner once then same problem occurs.

any ideas? it seems as though my machine doesn't like linkedin's cookie notice - globally. it seems it started since we moved from Germany, now in the UK.

    thanks,

Ok this is really interesting and quite a challenge to solve....just recently we have been to Germany right, and i dont remember this cookie notice being a problem, so out of curiosity i connected now via a VPN to a German IP address and guess what? the cookie notice doesn't show up!

however if i switch to Amsterdam, i will get a longer cookie notice that doesn't go away, if i connect to Italy i get the same one as in the UK which then again doesn't go away.

Fully consistent behaviour across the 3 browsers as well.
    the plot thickens.....

No issues here in USA. Pops right up into my account. Possibly some EU issue, Article 13 issue, ISP issue. A myriad of things. Maybe someone from the UK will pop in to advise.

It is becoming a standard banner on websites, so that they can track usage.

Just started getting this same problem

I have started getting the same cookie warning every time I open LinkedIn, and again when I move between areas of the product. None of my colleagues in the same UK building experience this.

I cleared all cookies and it's been happening ever since. I'm using Chrome.

This doesn't happen with Edge, but I don't want to use that.

So it must be something to do with Chrome cookie handling. Shouldn't my acceptance be stored in a cookie, so that the message doesn't get shown again?

I get this problem one one laptop but not another. Both using Chrome to access my same LinkedIn account.

Anybody found a way to prevent the cookie warning appearing every time with some configurations?

I don't think it has anything with the browsers. I am too seeing the cookies notice on many websites after the European Parliament's cookies law.

Websites seem to implement the cookies law not just in Europe but the rest of the continents too. Sometimes this notice does not show up, but most time it is there.

I am sure this in nothing to do with European cookie and privacy laws. I can sit at my desk in London with 2 laptops, both running Chrome, and one displays the privacy warning in LinkedIn every time and the other never does. On the offending laptop I can use Edge and don't see the warning.

So there must be a configuration setting somewhere that causes one Chrome browser to show the warning every time I log in or go to a new page. I really want to get this turned off, any ideas?

Check location of DNS server and ip addresses on both machines.

Check which cookies are retained by the browsers.

Check if any proxy is in use.

Check if there are any privacy enhancing addons installed that disguise location.
