Best Chrome Extension for Improved Security?

Which Chrome extensions do people recommend to enhance security when using the Chrome browser? I've been using Ad Block and Windows Defender Browser protection but there may be better options.

Does that extension only open the Application Guard Edge window for untrusted sites? I note you can open an Application Guard Edge window by clicking on the extension icon but it doesn't link to the web page currently being viewed. You also can't save any favourites in the Application Guard Edge window which limits its usefulness.

It depends on what you are trying to achieve I suppose; privacy or security.

    Maybe there is a trade-off?

I am currently testing Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin, and AdGuard AdBlocker; a combination of at least two of those helps reduce, not stop, tracking, block ads, and help prevent malware sites from loading.

Not sure there is an ideal solution, I suppose it is more about the comfort level of each user.

My two pence worth on the subject

    I'm more concerned about security.

Then I think some of the ones suggested by Callender are probably more along the lines of what you are looking for.

By the way, if you don't mind me asking where are you from in Yorkshire?

A long time ago, I lived for one year in Ilkley and absolutely loved it there (and the Dales in general).

Yorkshire Dales north of where you were but I don't live there now.

I don't know about your setup but what I do is run a portable version of Chrome so I can test various extensions and measure their functionality, efficacy, and so on.

AdGuard AdBlocker has an anti-malware component and I have heard though not tested that uMatrix is good.

And depending on what you think of Avast, apparently they have a good security extension.

    Hope this helps.
