Cookie notice doesn't want to go away on Microsoft Edge 44.17763.1.0

    hi guys,

i just noticed that from a few days - i am at a new location - on Microsoft Edge 44.17763.1.0 the cookie notices are staying on the page, regardless of the fact that I read them or click X or accept or OK. sites where I saw the behaviour happening:

LinkedIn: Log In or Sign Up
    https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/...or-contactless

can anyone give it a go with their Edge and confirm if it happens the same please?

on Chrome and FF seems OK.

Yes, you're right. I didn't get any cookie notices in FireFox when visiting the links. From what I remember, the Edge browser is now obsolete and the Chromium Browser is its replacement.

Odd thing is, I never visited either of those sites before, so I should've got the cookie policy notice because they weren't in my website cache; although I do have FireFox set to "Remember History".

It is called Chromium Edge Browser (from Microsoft) and is available for download; whether or not it is related to Chrome from Google, I have no idea.

interesting, I had no idea about that, so MS and Google working together on a browser project, cool in a way.

As a matter of fact, it actually IS related to Google Chrome.
    Quote from the link above:

“We’re working directly with the teams at Google and the broader Chromium community on this work and appreciate the collaborative and open discussions,” explains Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president at Microsoft. “These contributions represent work-in-progress and are not yet fully represented in the browser you can install today, so stay tuned.”

That's pretty cool. I think Microsoft wants to win its users back to using Edge with a completely new look that is very similar to Google Chrome. From a business perspective, it's not a bad idea, since many people trust Microsoft products. So when people notice the great reviews of this 'new' browser, they very likely will be like: "Oh cool! A very reliable and awesome web browser that looks a lot like Google Chrome, yet it's Microsoft! Yay!"

I use Google Chrome, and if Google and Microsoft team up on this project, then that would be pretty cool! I'd get that new browser. I'd be on both teams on that app! =D

    Edit:
    • Microsoft is probably aiming to win users who use browsers that are OTHER than Google Chrome.
    • Maybe in the future, assuming this project is a success [in which it will most likely will be a success], maybe Google Chrome will be installed as a whole "Microsoft-Google Chrome" kinda app, where the user may be able to switch within the app from the original Google Chrome to the Microsoft-Google Chrome, and vice versa. That would be pretty cool..

The article I had linked, I had bookmarked for later reading because I bookmarked it the day it came out, which was April 8th and I hadn't had a chance to read it yet.

Overall, after reading the article (and thanks for pointing out what I wasn't sure of) I have to say they just might be on to something there. I recently just switched back to FireFox after a three year hiatus from it, and I am impressed with what they have done with FireFox lately.

Frankly, I am getting a bit irritated having to switch browsers all the time because my banks will not support one or the other or both and I have to use yet a third browser choice. The recent switch to FireFox was because RoboForm was very incompatible with the Edge Browser. So I switched to LastPass as my Auto Log-in of choice; but I still haven't decided on a permanent browser yet.

It just seems almost impossible to get by with just one browser considering all the incompatibility issues that can arise from just using one browser.

I use Wells Fargo as my bank, and I have been using the Google Chrome browser as my main web browser for... at least the past 5 years. I've never had issues with this browser. It's constantly updated, which is one reason why I use Google Chrome. Also, another reason why I use Google Chrome is because how huge & successful of a company Google is. This implies that their products will always be as close to perfect as possible, at all times.
I'm not trying to convince you to switch from FireFox or anything though. If FireFox works perfectly for you, then I would suggest you holding on to it and using it.
