Microsoft Edge Insider preview builds are now ready for you to try

The Edge implementation has several color inversion options. Unfortunately all inversions have problems with image and video elements. And, the issues vary from website to website. This may turn out to be a great feature, but it still needs a LOT of love before it will work smoothly across all websites.
I suspect Chrome has the same ones. One advantage of Dark Reader is that it can have per site configuration.

I am sure that would help with accommodating the various image/video formats that are employed across differing websites. But, it "would" be preferable to have the browser natively detect and adjust transparently to accommodate varying formats as one browsed.
The thought of the user needing to adjust/configure on a per website basis runs the parallel of firewall configuration...that whole issue will deter the average user from employing this type of feature "if" the configuration requires that degree of tuning by the user.

Agreed. Dark Reader has built in per site settings where the default is unsatisfactory. This can be overridden by the user if needed
