Some users had requested this change and in the build released today (79.0.300.0) the transformation is complete:

(Apparently there are many users who don't like rounded corners and that's why they had asked for the change).

Yesterday it looked like this in Canary:

Thanks for the heads up! MS has been very erratic with their time of day releases on Fridays, so one never knows when to check. Have you found any obvious changes?

Warning for those who want to install the Edge Stable that is floating around the web. You can't uninstall it once installed. I had to restore a Macrium Image from a few days ago to get rid of it.

Microsoft has not yet officially released the stable version, so any build of that version is not official, It doesn't matter if it comes from Microsoft servers, I don't know why some users (and some blogs) talk about those builds as if Microsoft had already released the stable version.
