Perhaps. They did say if Edge stable was installed, UWP Edge would no longer be present on a new Build.
Confirmed.
There must be something official about it!

I have Edge (Spartan), Edge (Chromium) Beta, Dev and Canary installed. All accessible for me. What are you guys talking about?

Found out the stable version is just another leaked beta. Really Microsoft Edge will be out of beta by 2021 how much freaking testing do you need when it is just a fork of Chrome. I uninstalled the "Stable" beta and went back to Chrome.
Edge (Chromium) is far from the same thing as Google Chrome. They both share the same underlying engine, but there are a lot of differences in the end. Edge also adds features specific for Windows 10 that don't exist in Chrome. Edge even has an IE Compatibility Mode. And there are a lot of things happening under the hood that we don't even know of yet.
While the core browser works pretty much flawlessly, the browser is far from perfect and is missing a lot of planned features. All this require a lot of testing before it can be declared stable and complete.
Seems MS is also trying to avoid making the same mistake they did with Edge (Spartan) that caused a lot of issues for many users for the first couple of years after initial release.

Running Win10 1903. After installing Edge Stable from link post #890, it replaced Edge Spartan.
Edge Dev was not affected.

One of the builds removed Spartan from the Start menu, but it's back again. But I never lost access to Edge Spartan

EdgeStable not that stable. This morning at startup the Icon was gone in taskbar, Apps& Features, Start. Check on About Microsoft Edge Gave the error as per attachment below.
Uninstaling Stable gave me back Edge Spartan.
Running Beta now. Spartan not affected.

Five are functional, each unique in some way.
Example:
Edge Stable is the only one that will actually open a 'Send To PC' link from Android.
